Hernan (say: “Err-non”) lived in Lima, Peru, until he was 17 years old and came to the US on a scholarship to study mechanical engineering at The University of Kansas. While at university, he met his future wife, Lindsey. After graduation in 2011, Hernán and Lindsey moved to Boulder, Colorado, where Hernán completed a PhD in Aerospace Engineering in 2016.
In 2012, Lindsey and Hernán started a company called The Postman’s Knock (TPK). At first, The Postman’s Knock was a little Etsy shop where Lindsey sold services such as invitation design and custom calligraphy. After Hernán built a website for TPK, the company evolved into a thriving blog with a significant income source from eBooks and video courses.
Fast-forward to 2018, and the TPK mailing list annual cost exceeded $6,000. Hernan knew there had to be a better way to send out newsletters and blog post updates. That’s when Boldermail was born! We decided on the name “Boldermail” because we made the bold decision to step away from Mailchimp, and we live in Boulder, CO! We used Boldermail for two years on our own site before deciding to offer it to you.
When he’s not writing code, Hernan enjoys renovating antique pieces of furniture. He has two great loves in life: his family and European drinking chocolate!
